Кодований геном білок за функціями належить до трансфераз, рибонуклеопротеїнів, фосфопротеїнів. Задіяний у таких біологічних процесах як поліморфізм, альтернативний сплайсинг.
Є разом з DKC1 однією з субодиниць теломерази.
Білок має сайт для зв'язування з іонами металів, ДНК, іоном магнію. Локалізований у цитоплазмі, ядрі, хромосомах.
