Кодований геном білок за функціями належить до інгібіторів протеаз, , фосфопротеїнів. Задіяний у таких біологічних процесах, як апоптоз, клітинна адгезія, ендоцитоз, альтернативний сплайсинг. Білок має сайт для зв'язування з іоном міді, іонами металів, іоном цинку, іоном заліза, з молекулою гепарину. Локалізований у мембрані, клатрин-вкритих заглибинах мембрани.
